The Red Tree Canopy for THE Park Hotels

THE Park Hotels is known to foster unusual experiences — from curated art and design, to drawn inspirations from architecture and food. At India Design ID 2024, Mrinalini Ghadiok and I helped converge these themes within this immersive, emphatically red space, we lovingly called The Red Tree Canopy. To bring this space to life, we collaborated with origami architect Ankon Mitra to envision the many moods and manifestations of the colour red — which has so many meaning across cultures. Ankon and his team crafted this mesmerising ceiling installation made entirely out of paper, entirely of the bold shade. Studio MNT designed and executed the custom benches and seating, akin to picnic seating.

All in all, we curated a cafe of mystical proportions, inviting patrons to dine and interpret their own equations. Because of its surprisingly monochromatic candour, the space also offered respite from the myriad displays of multiple textures and palettes across the design fair.

Memories of Mumbai

Commissioned when working with Godrej Properties’ The Trees, this was a crowdsourced installation that invited visitors to record their favourite memories on the map of Mumbai. We managed to capture over 200 memories - from first home, and first dates in a park of garden, to messages to long lost ones, even sketches.

Live #LifeatTheTrees with MuseLab

This was an interactive green installation, imagined for Godrej Properties' The Trees in collaboration with MuseLAB, and showcased at Godrej L’Affaire n 2020. It emphasized the importance of reconnecting urban lifestyles with nature amid the decline of city green cover. Through a dome surrounded by lush greenery, immersive sounds, and earthy scents, visitors experienced what it feels like to live amid a natural ecosystem. Supported by iKheti and Grospire, the knowledge bars offered hands-on guidance on sustainable practices like urban gardening and aquaponic farming.
